Anyone heard of or seen a clip of a drag race car alongside a jet plane or similar??

I remember when i was small we had a video of the SONAX car racing against an aeroplane. It lost! Saw this clip and was hoping to scratch some heads.

Thanks

Not anything 1/4 mile designed, but there's been a few F1 attempts:

Gille Villeneuve vs an F4 Phantom in the 80's
Michael Schumacher vs an F18 (that vid posted)
Micheal Schumacher vs a Eurofighter (over 200m and 400m)

Sort of related stuff, in 1997, Ferrari made a high budget TV ad using 2 of their F1 cars and a C130 refueler Hercules, filling up your car at 200mph.....as ya do.

A Top Fuel dragster vs a Eurofighter would be interesting.....and would give the sport some good publicity.

Thinking about it though, the Corrado would beat an F1 car. But that's no excuse to go nicking it....

hot rod magazine once did a feature about 20 odd years ago where they lifted don garlits race car onto an aircraft carrier, cant remember the name of the ship of hand but they done some comparisons to see how swamp rat number? would compare to a jet fighter being launched i think it was an f16 shot from a steam catapult compared to the dragsters launch , i bet someone on this forum has a copy of that magazine somewhere or can remember that edition ,i dont have my copy any longer but if i remember right the jet fighter wasnt that much quicker than don garlits car!they featured a picture of big daddy doing a burn out on the carriers deck!

Large Father did a couple of Swamp-Rat-on-an-aircraft-carrier photo opportunities, I seem to recall. One back in the early 70's, when Big was doing his bit for the Navy, Vietnam etc. And another around the early 80's with his turbine-powered thang. I don't recall any details on whether Big would have beaten the catapult launched fighter, but I could be wrong.
The nearest drag racing came to racing a jet fighter was when Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen did a land-based comparison back in the mid-70's. I seem to remember they weren't allowed to race side by side, but "the race" was properly timed and recorded - and the jet won. 'Goose citing lack of traction on the runway surface for his loss.
Again I think the US Navy was responsible for the publicity stunt as McEwen's Funny Car was sponsored by them at the time.

John the name of the aircraft carrier was the USS Lexington, and it was an F14 Tomcat on the steam catapult.

Mel his turbine-powered dragster (SR 28B) only produced 1400 bhp and with that amount of horsepower, the jet fighter would have left it in the dust.

The Sonax car was a VW Beetle and the driver was Ronald Jütting, who still drives today and still in a VW Beetle (New Beetle) called "Spirit of Westphalia".

In 1987, he barely lost against a Phantom fighter jet in a Liqui Moly Beetle. In 1998, he beat a Russian Suchoj Su-24 in his 665-HP Dragster at St. Petersburg.

Their is a picture of the car next to the phanton fighter if you scroll down.

Found this on a site called:
